Packaged food manufacturer Mondelez International (NASDAQ: MDLZ ) has signed a strategic global media agreement with Google (NASDAQ: GOOG ) that will focus on connecting with customers through their mobile phones.
The "mobile only" deal announced today will focus specifically on mobile search, websites, and display, and will cover 16 countries in regions including Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East. There will be a "particular focus" on BRIC and emerging markets, said the company. BRIC stands for Brazil, Russia, India, and China.
The Mondelez-Google deal is a departure from a traditional media agreement because it will include analytics, mobile capability building, and will also create Mondelez-branded mobile websites. Mondelez will also have the option to participate in Google's mobile beta programs.
"Mobile devices are transforming consumer behavior and creating countless opportunities for marketers to engage consumers," Eileen Naughton, VP of Global Sales at Google, was quoted as saying. "Mondelez International�is one of the first to truly step up with a strategic global mobile deal of this reach and execution."

For the period ended Sept. 28, Ralph Lauren reported a profit of $205 million, or $2.23 a share, down from $214 million, or $2.29 a share, a year earlier. Analysts recently expected $2.20…
The company raised the lower end of its estimated revenue range for the year by one percentage point and now projects an increase of 5% to 7%. For the current quarter, the company forecast revenue growth of 8% to 10%, in line with recent estimates of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters for an increase of 9%.
Ralph Lauren also unveiled a quarterly dividend increase of 13% to 45 cents a share.

The company has faced rising food costs in recent years and has also been a savvy acquirer. (A recent buy is Pirate Brands, maker of Pirate's Booty snacks.) Its brands include Ortega, Mrs. Dash, Cream of Wheat, Underwood, Molly McButter, Baker's Joy, and Static Guard. There's some worry, though, about how well it can grow organically, without relying on acquisitions. B&G has carried significant debt, but it has refinanced and reduced that.
